Upbringing
I grew up in a mixed-Christian home. My parents met at The Way International and were sent to Ireland as “missionaries”. They claimed to be Christian but did not believe in the foundational doctrines to qualify as a Christian. They denied the trinity, believed that a baby was not alive until they were born, were huge into sexual sin and were very legalistic.
After The Way split, my mother found Christ, but my father didn’t and kept the beliefs he learned. This made their marriage extremely difficult, and hearing two very different doctrines confused my brother and me. I often tried to read the Bible, but I felt there was a blockage and couldn’t understand it.
My father was very abusive to my family and me, especially my mother and was unfaithful to her. Because of this, they divorced. I have healed immensely from the trauma caused by the divorce and abuse, but from time to time, things pop up. My journey with the Lord has been rocky, but I am glad to be on the other side.
Now, I have a much firmer understanding of what the Bible teaches and can better spot inconsistencies and questionable doctrines. I am still learning and growing in many ways and probably will until the day I die.
Wife and Mom

My husband and I met in Japan almost 10 years ago. He played a massive part in bringing me back to the Lord. We have been married for 9 years and had our first child last year. Our lives are exciting and never dull as we are from very different cultures.
ESL Instructor

I have worked as an ESL teacher in Japan for 9 years and am now a lecturer at a university In Kyoto. I teach mostly freshmen and teach writing, listening, and speaking. It can be hard work at times, but it is very rewarding!
Quiet Time

I am a big reader and love cafes, especially Starbucks! I love the music they play, which, most of the time, is jazz. I’m so glad I invested in a Kindle, there are just too many books to buy and don’t have a bookshelf big enough to put them! Plus, I don’t think my husband would appreciate all the books lying around.
